Cucusoft’s Video Converter software is a basic conversion program that really doesn’t do much. You input common file types like WMV, AVI, MPEG and MP4; however, they can only be converted to MPEG, VOB or DAT. More specifically, DVD, SVCD or VCD, designed mostly for tangible media. We suspect this software is best used for those trying to place home videos on to DVD.

We really liked that the software will check your computer for appropriate codecs, and suggest where to find and download the codecs you don’t have. All of our conversion tests worked; however, we can’t justify a higher ranking for this product because it just isn’t as comprehensive as most of the other software we reviewed. Additionally, there is no support for portable devices like iPod or Zune.
