Comparatively, Digital Media Converter seems dated and could probably do with a minor facelift. It is a plain, functional video converter program that does what it needs to do without any frills.
It supports common input and output files like WMV, AVI, MPEG, MOV, MP4 and more. Digital Media Converter will also convert audio files including M4A, CDA, MP3 and AIFF.
However, we found that it will not support RealMedia or Flash videos downloaded from the Internet. Additionally, Digital Media Converter does not have the ability to rip VOB files directly off a DVD. You have to rip the movie to your hard drive first.
You can adjust various aspects of your output file including video dimensions, video and audio codecs, and include some minor effects like inverted colors, gray scale or mirror image.
While evaluating Digital Media Converter we were prompted to install additional video codecs. Downloads were free and painless.
Digial Media Converter includes an in-program help guide, online tutorials, a FAQ and user forum. Additionally, our emails were answered in about a day.
