The only thing Movie Converter video converter has going for it is it’s simplicity. The interface prompts you to input a file and select an output format. However, that is where the positive aspects of the software stops. The supported input files are limited to WMV, AVI, MPEG, MOV, VOB and RM. AVI files can not be coded specifically to DivX or Xvid. Output files are the same.
Unfortunately, most of the of our conversion tests didn’t work. When converting a WMV or MPEG to AVI only the audio transferred, and when we tried to convert a MOV file to AVI the conversion didn’t work at all. We continued to received a error message explaining the codec frame rate differs from the container frame rate, but Movie Converter never offered a way to fix that problem.
Help and support includes four FAQs, a forum that is never used, a “how to” that doesn’t include screen shots and an email contact that is rarely responsive. Additionally, the software doesn’t include an in-program help guide.©2008 TopTenREVIEWS, Inc.
