WinMPG has shown much improvement since our last review. WinMPG it is still a very simplistic application, but its simplicity seems to work against it. Even if you are familiar with other video converter programs you will need to poke around WinMPG’s interface to find all its features. However, we were still unable to rename the video before sending it to the output folder.

With WinMPG you can convert to AVI, MPEG, VCD and even iPod compatible formats. If you select the “more” button you will find a fair selection of output options. In all of our conversion tests WinMPG worked just fine. However, the picture was a little a little grainy and pixilated. We still suggest using caution with this software and you’ll defiantly want to test the trial download first.

WinMPG can rip an unencrypted DVD directly from the drive, but you have to go into the advanced settings to choose which section/episode you would like to convert.

In the advanced settings you can adjust start and stop times, aspect ratio, bit rates, frame rates and start and stop times. These feature options may differ depending on your original input file and your selected output file.
